The blank page removal settings for Fujitsu Paperstream can be controlled from iKAN Scan. After loading the settings screen you can navigate to the "Basic" tab where the settings can be found.
Automatic Blank Page Removal can be switched on and off by checking and unchecking the tickbox in the Blank Page Removal section.
Once Automatic Blank Page Removal has been switched on, the settings can be changed:
Blank Page Skip - Sets the function to scan by skipping blank pages during continuous ADF scanning. With a value of "0" blank pages will not be skipped. A value between 1-11 will allow blank pages to be skipped with higher values resulting in a higher likelihood of skipping.
Skip White Page - Configures whether to skip blank pages (white pages) when scanning continuously from an ADF. With a value of "0", blank white pages will not be skipped. A value between 1-15 will enable skipping of blank white pages. The value indicates the ratio of black dots in the white page by 0.2% increments but only has an impact when scanning in black and white. A maximum value of 3.0% can be specified. When scanning in Greyscale or Color the value between 1-15 is re-evaluated into five levels. Skipping is more likely when a larger value is specified.
Skip Black Page - Configures whether to skip blank pages (black pages) when scanning continuously from an ADF. With a value of "0", blank black pages will not be skipped. A value between 1-15 will enable skipping of blank black pages. The value indicates the ratio of white dots in the black page by 0.2% increments. The maximum value of 3.0% can be specified.
Blank Page Skip Threshold - This value is used in a final check and is applied to all pages even if the scanner does not classify them as blank. This value indicates the output file size, below which a page will be disregarded. The value is measured in bytes. It should be noted that Color and Greyscale scans produce much larger output files (file size) and as such larger (file size) blank pages. You will therefore need to set this value much higher. Conversely when scanning in Black and White the value should be much lower.
NOTE: It is advised that blank page removal settings are used cautiously. All settings should be applied one at a time and the output tested with both known blank and non-blank scans. Increase settings little by little until the desired level is reached. In particular is should be noted that when scanning in Auto Color the scanner will be outputting both Color and Black and White images and therefore the settings will be either too high for Black and White or too low for Color. In this instance we would recommend setting the value appropriate for Black and White.
